Beer, sausage, fresh pretzels, great live music and more, these are the things that pull in tourists to our local late-summer Germanfest, an annual community event celebrating the German heritage of Pulaski County. Held in downtown Winamac, this exciting event begins with the Chamber of Commerce’s annual golf outing in the morning. Later in the day, the streets of Winamac bustle with the sounds live polka music filling the air, after the honorary Bürgermeister officially kicks of the event While some dance the night away in the beer garden, others enjoy the taste of authentic German food… and many do both! Activities for children and adults run throughout the afternoon and evening, including a cornhole tournament, a create-a-canvas painting event (with follow-up silent auction), and several other activities.
